ಪ್ರಿಸಮ್ ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್-ಕನ್ನಡ ಶಾಲಾ ನಿಘಂಟು (Prism English-Kannada School Dictionary)

Prof. G. Venkatasubbiah is a Kannada lexicographer par excellence embodying literary knowledge, scholarship and creative talent. He has taught the language for nearly 40 years at various levels. He is referred to as the Father of modern Kannada lexicography. He has authored the first book in Kannada on modern lexicology. He has compiled ten different dictionaries. They include a dictionary of ‘Foreign Loan Words in Kannada’, a dictionary of ‘Difficult words in Kannada’ & a very popular ‘IGO KANNADA’ - a Socio-linguistic dictionary. Two of his dictionaries are also made available in Braille. In recognition of his services to the Kannada language and lexicography, he has been conferred the ‘Nadoja’ an honorary Doctorate from Kannada Vishvavidyalaya, Hampi. He is the recipient of ‘Basha Samman’ award from the Central Sahitya Academy, ‘Pampa Prashasti’ the highest literary award from the Government of Karnataka and many other awards. He has been conferred ‘Padma Shri’ by the Government of India. Prof G V has compiled this modern dictionary especially for school & college students. This dictionary is also useful to translators, press reporters and general readers. It also has an annexure to improve the vocabulary of the English language.
