Summary: This book gives many examples of different types of composition. It includes both the longer compositions and the guided compositions of Paper 1 at ‘O’ Level. You should make sure you are very familiar with both. The compositions are not intended for memorization, you will probably not find any question you memorize appear on your exam paper. Even if you do, the examiner will soon recognize a composition that has been memorized and will penalize you. You should, however, make sure you remember and can use confidently certain words and phrases that are typical of certain styles. Read the examples through many times to familiarize yourself with them. This book will help you prepare for the exam, but it must be accompanied by regular reading if you want to write accurately and with confidence. In the end, you cannot write well if you do not read.
