It is a well known bitter fact that present commercial education system is completely damaging the 'teacher-student' relationship. Moreover western civilization induced teaching methodologies like audio- visual coaching, computers and televisions, junk magazines etc. are deteriorating the student's psychology by inducing wrong notions into the flexible brains of the student's community. Students are 'purchasing education' instead of learning. Teachers too became money minded by teaching tuitions at tutorial institutions in a busy manner. Hence students of present day thinking that their teachers are just 'human beings'. There should be 'dedication' of teaching in teaching community. Then only teacher get respect, regard from the students.
Hence, it is highly desirable to look into ancient and Ayurvedic literature which describes 'Shishyopanayana'. It specifies the mode of ancient education, qualities of a good teacher, qualities of a good student etc elaborately. Our rich cultural heritage, our education system i.e. specific 'shishya-acharya vyavastha' is unique and except India no other country has this type of strong, standard educative method. The qualities of Guru (teacher), Acharya (preceptor) and Sishya (student) compelled from Ayurvedic, Classics, Agama sastra, Rasaratna samucchaya etc.
